The WCSL Corporation Era

In 2006 WCSL celebrates it's 20th year in business and begins a new era of being ran by The WCSL Corporation.  With the same principles, the same founders, and same business philosophy's guiding the company into the next 20 years, the business takes another large step in becoming an industry driving force.

TIMELINE 2006

WCSL expands it's inventory of Monarc speakers and are routinely found in California's largest venues.  WCSL takes 40, 50, & 60 box systems into Arco Arena, Oakland Coliseum Arena, Shoreline Amphitheater and others.  Many new clients begin to discover WCSL as the company begins a collection of new full time venues and clients including Casinos, Wineries, and tours.

WCSL also takes a major jump further into moving lights by greatly expanding it's inventory of Martin Mac movers and announces a switch to Avolites consoles.

TIMELINE 2007

2007 see's a huge investment into the lighting side of West Coast Sound & Light.  Now with hundreds of feet of double and single hung trussing, both conventional and intelligent lighting come up to par with WCSL's state of the art sound systems.

In 2007 Matt moved from a management position to a partnership position as the corporation takes shape.  Matt's leading and vision takes the company in new directions as permanent installations take the forefront in company sales, while live shows continue to grow as well.

TIMELINE 2008

In 2008 WCSL launches The AudPod, a weekly podcast covering the world of professional sound & light production.  The podcast is designed for individuals working in production from both a professional and armature standing.  Church sound engineers are able to receive instruction and tips that make their life behind the board easer.  In the first week of the debut episode subscribership tops 6000.  Within the first month the show is picked up by iTunes.  By the end of it's first summer subscriptions top 15,000 with total weekly downloads exceeding 20,000.  In the beginning of 2009 The AudPod is largely responsible for wcsl.org topping 100,000 hits and downloads for a single month.

In 2008 WCSL establishes itself as a state wide player opening up WCSL LA in Montrose California with former Showco engineer Tim Nesbitt overseeing the Southern California market.  Installations boom, touring systems expand, lighting rigs grow, and it becomes clear that a move is needed as WCSL NorCal quickly outgrows it's humble workspace in Modesto.

WCSL enters a new era in large scale arena sound with the purchase of it's first JBL Vertec line array system.  Huge events like X-Fest expand with WCSL and both spill over to Las Vegas for the first time.  Big rigs are seen in the parking lot now and high end tour clients begin to emerge.  It becomes obvious that WCSL's small warehouse facility is now being asked to do much more than it is capable of.  the quest for a new facility begins.

TIMELINE 2009

WCSL finds itself on the road in 2009 with rock legend supergroup YOSO, touring as production staff and tour management.  The group made up of former members of both YES and TOTO tour south of the border while it's debut album is finished for release in July 2010.  Paul serves as tour manager and FOH engineer and preparations are made for a full on world tour with WCSL in 2010.

At the end of 2009 WCSL finds it's new home.  While only a quarter mile away from the old facility, the new facility boasts five times the office space of the old warehouse with room for touring gear, installation staging, and a full production studio.  The company now has a proper home base to take it into the next decade.

While moving from the old warehouse to the new, we decided to bring our near 30 year old glossy collection into the digital age and move the collection here to the scrapbook digitally.  The cream of the crop was also spared to live again in the digital afterlife in digital frames in our offices.  You never see glossy's anymore.  A relic of the past in our industry I'm afraid.  Click on any below to enlarge.
