PRESS RELEASE 6/22/98

West Coast Sound & Light of Modesto California becomes the first sound company in thirty years to provide concert sound at Altamont.

On Fathers Day weekend June 20-21 1998, almost 30 years after the fateful and infamous concert at Altamont Raceway with the Rolling Stones, Big Brother & The Holding Co. , Jefferson Airplane & Santana, music returned to Altamont with the launching of the Graffiti America 98 Festival.  Returning to the speedway for the reunion and celebration of an era was Big Brother and the holding Co., and Quicksilver with members of Santana.  Also on the bill for the event was Sha Na Na, It's a Beautiful Day, Lydia Pence and Cold Blood, Eddie & The Boppers, and One Thin Dime.

The event hopes to usher in a new era of concerts and festivals at the motorpark and served to dispel any misgivings any promoter might have had to using the facilities for a modern event.  Price of admission to the festival included two days of concerts, two air shows, a custom car show, a cruise and burn out contest.  If this wasn't enough, the promoters also through in two days of racing on the half mile!   Now that's entertainment!
